Adaptation

All of life on Earth is thought to have begun at LUCA, the “Last Universal Common Ancestor”, meaning that all of life is connected, and all of life must have diversified in response to its environment over millions and millions of years. Sometimes a genetic mutation may create an adaptation that allows an organism to thrive within an ecosystem. Other times, simple diversity in genetics may allow some organisms to be able to see their surroundings, to smell more strongly, or to be curious when lightning strikes a tree causing a fire that makes meat tastier.
