Organisms on Earth almost all do the following: Move, Respire, Sense their environment, Grow, Reproduce, Excrete waste, and require Nutrition. These 7 life processes can be remembered by the acronym: MRS GREN. If it doesn’t do one or more of these things, it probably isn’t alive! As for viruses, they’re microbes that don’t do all of these things, so we aren’t really sure if they count as “alive” or not…
