Earth
Our own planet definitely does have life, and we have the tools to observe Earth’s plantary processes in quite a lot of detail. It is likely that our hot mantle combined with the magnetic field generated by the flow of our liquid iron core has protected our habitable atmosphere for long enough that life was able to evolve into intelligent species. By understanding our own planet, we can identify other planets with similar processes to ours, with the expectation that intelligent life just might be out there…
