Who we are
STEAMPINK Education aims to develop a genre of science learning materials with high regard for design and simplicity, to help learners access the fundamentals of our shared, natural world. Whilst the future seems to be headed in the direction of AI teachers on your smartphone, STEAMPINK believes in tactile experiences, social discourse, and valuing the sanctity of the offline world.
Laura Edwards BSc, PGCE, MA
Laura’s earliest memory of science was memorising how to spell methylchloroisothiazolinone, found on the back of a shampoo bottle, for a spelling test at age 11. This progressed to studying for a BSc (Hons) with the Open University, focusing on chemistry, geology, and science in context.

Following graduation, Laura embarked upon a career in teaching. This included time as a learning support assistant whilst completing a PGCE, followed by four years teaching science to 11-16 year olds.
During 2020, Laura used the experience of being a distance learner with the OU to develop learning opportunities for students during the pandemic. This included an online extracurricular club called STEAMPINK Adventurers, building a community of young scientists in a world of uncertainty and isolation.
